Steven's watch

I have started to model out my watch. I know that most of my time on this project will be on the materials so I am trying to be quick and efficient with the modeling so that I can get going on the rest.

New project

My new project will be a dishware set that I will be modeling and designing as well. More to come on the environment... I have started modeling the plates and bowls and will go from there.

10.19.10

Guitar all textured!!

I got the wood texture off the internet, learned how to photoshop it and bring it back to Maya, fitting the texture together, fixing everything so when it is smooth it looks right, put texture, color, UV, and stuff to EVERYTHING, learned to use creativecrash.com to get the gold for the head (learned how to get that into Maya too) and yep!  Now I think I just have to light it and I'll be done!! Woot!  Thanks for the help!!

I am working on copying the lights everywhere to see what they do. I am hoping that I don't have to make any lighting adjustments but we will see. I think the materials are close. The metal is still killing me. I have tried a few tutorials but it still kind of looks like plastic.

Bracelet 10.12.2010

Well, I finally got some better materials applied and also my bump map. It is so fun to see it start looking real, and to see some renders.

I have been working on making the filament light up. I am trying to get a general light that I can also place to make the light glow correctly. My materials are placed but are not rendering yet, I think because the light is not really on them. I have a clear glass on the bulb which is showing a small reflection but is not really showing up yet.

the shoe, 10.7

I have adjusted the uv's and now it is on to texturing!

Bracelet

I had just started changing a few things on my material attributes, and set up one extra camera for now. I haven't changed too much, but will now get my bump map put together. So, on to that step.
I have no uv maps to do so I have moved into assigning materials and creating lights. The lighting part is going to be a real challenge. I have placed a light in the space and none of the materials are showing well. I will be working on getting them to work better today.

uv's are a love hate relationship!

Logan Perez

After playing with uv's and figuring out exactly how to do it I have finally found out a way I like to do it.  here is the snap shot of the bill, wings, and eyes.

still tweaking them but I am really starting to like laying out uv's.

10.5 - Starting My UV

I started working on laying out my UV's. I also learned about quick select sets- Very nice. Now I just need to get my logo in order and start adding the images. I'm also thinking of going back a couple steps to a non-mirrored goggle to setup my UV's and make a couple tweaks. I've re-done these goggles a ridiculous amount of times now but I'm getting faster and more efficient each time.

Bracelet- beginning lighting

I have just begun to set up my lighting. I have one point light and set up the basic settings as well as applied a my materials. And this is one of my first renders.

I have done the uv's and just need to adjust the way that they lay a little.

Class Reminder

Hey everyone just a reminder to post to the blog a screen shot or render of your project before class each Tuesday and Thursday. Please don't forget to write a quick one or two sentences stating what you've been doing. I am checking them right before class to see where everyone is at so please post!

Also, on the top of your post please insert the date.

and of course the Digital Tutors are all on the computer in the corner (the one I use), they can be a great resource!

The Learning Curve

So, I keep forgetting to post my stuff on here. Here we go-

Here's the first look at my rough draft. I started this about 5 different times, and I still learned new things I would have changed.

By this point I've started to get things into position and I've added the foam.

Starting to fine tune and smooth things out.

Finally to the point of mirroring but as you can see from the gap on the foam, I didn't do a good job. Frustrating. Although, I learned the importance of aligning your points.

Another shot with the strap added. Thanks to Mason for his help!
