watch completed

So I finally finished modeling my watch today. It has taken a lot more time than I thought it would to get the clasp into place and have it all play well together. So now I need to start my materials and get it all colored and everything.

Dishware..cont.

I have started to apply my illustrator files on to my dishware. I have the plates and cup finished, but had some problems with my uvs on my bowl that I am still working out. I will start modeling some silverware to go with it, and may do some bump maps on those as well as my goblet.

New Way to Import Illustrator Files

Ok, so I have some bad news and good news. I've had nothing but problems with the last method of importing Illustrator files into Maya. The method I was using was causing the model to have a lot of points, reverse my normals, and laundry list of things that were making my life hell. The good-- I found a new way to import and it seems to be working quite well. The bad--I'm going to remodel... but it shouldn't take too long. I have literally spent hours and hours trying to fix the disaster that the last method caused.

Here is a link to the new way of importing:

Dishes

I finished laying out my uvs for my dishes, and have begun working on the plate design. Still need a logo. Hopefully I will have the design finished by the end of the week.

stinking clasp

So the clasp has been a pain to get correct but it think the main part of it is finally right. Now I just need to get the release buttons done. Then I need to get the materials done. I would love to have a lesson about creating complex materials.

Extruding Illustrator files

Here are some images of me extruding my illustrator files.

Here's what I did-
-In illustrator I Saved As an Illustrator 8 file
-Then in I went into Maya, file>import, chose my file
-The grabbed the EP curve tool (create>EP curve tool) and drew a line the thickness I wanted the watch
-Then selected both my illustrator path and EP curve and surfaces>extrude
-Next, deleted the ep curve and selected the watch, then wen to Modify>Convert>NURBS to polygon
-Done. Now just a bunch of tweaking on the polygon.

Dishware modeling

I have finished most of the modeling for the basic dishware, and have converted them from NURBS to polys and will soon start to lay out the UVs.

Cornice Apparel

Well, I haven't gotten too far but here are my sketches and here is my illustrator file. I plan on importing my illustrator file into Maya and then extruding it... so, I'm going to take some extra time to make sure the illustrator file is nice and tight.
